Dining Guide for Mutton Creek Getaway

Revised Aug. 2024~

Although it’s convenient to prepare meals at the vacation rental property due to the generously equipped full-size kitchen, sometimes it’s nice to get out and sample the local fare. Confirm operating hours/months; some businesses close for winter and/or weekdays and/or may have limited hours either for breakfast and lunch or only for lunch and dinner.

Down the Road

About a half-hour drive of the cabin provides several eat-in restaurants and fast-food options. Both Stockton, Bolivar, and Lockwood are all an easy drive with several nice views of Stockton Lake and opportunities to see wildlife. Watch for deer crossing the road anytime of day, but especially at dusk and dawn.

The Boathouse Restaurant, on the southern outskirts of Stockton, serves up barbeque favorites, steak, seafood, and other fare in a nautical-themed setting. The Boathouse provides ample seating with two dining rooms and a bar.

Orleans Trail Marina and Resort, also Stockton, contains a sit-down restaurant open for lunch and dinner as well as breakfast on weekends with a nice view of the lake. If looking for nourishment while on the lake, the recreation areas at Cedar Ridge and Crabtree Cove also serve food.  There are also a variety of chain and locally owned eateries in Stockton such as Simple Simon’s pizza and Sonic plus Christy’s Cafe’.

For Mexican fare, try Enrique’s Mexican Grill, located at 1225 State Hwy 39 in Stockton, open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

To get to a bigger town with more options, simply try a different direction. Just 35 minutes east of the cabin, the city of Bolivar offers a variety of familiar chain restaurants such as Pizza Hut, McDonalds, and Taco Bell, as well as locally owned specialty dining such as Tres Amigos for Mexican dining and Master Wong’s for Chinese cuisine.

No matter where you choose to dine, there are many fine options surrounding the Stockton Lake area.
